A Message from The Principal

Combining a one-of-a-kind partnership with Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), technologically innovative STEM courses and clubs, and a newly expanded downtown Milwaukee location, Tenor High School’s Journal Square Campus reflects the best of what a charter school education has to offer – and we invite you to join us!

Tenor Journal Square opened in 2021 – an expansion of the original Tenor Cathedral Square campus, established in 2005 – where it has since championed the unique mission of a Tenor education: providing four years of a high school education in three years, all the while effectively preparing students to study for their senior year at MATC with no tuition cost. This unique opportunity affords students a significant jumpstart on their futures. Our staff is committed to making that possibility a reality for all students by cultivating welcoming, collaborative, and safe learning environments where every student can succeed.

Here at Tenor Journal Square, a big part of our success in preparing students for their year at MATC is due to developments in our Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs. As a certified Project Lead The Way school, we offer specific, hands-on courses designed to help students develop in and embrace STEM fields. Our PLTW courses are enhanced by an Innovation Lab outfitted with digital design workspaces and high-quality fabrication machinery, where students can engineer, build, and collaborate on interdisciplinary projects and explore new and emerging STEM-related career opportunities.

The construction of our Innovation Lab formed part of the renovation and expansion projects we've been engaged in since our opening, which will culminate in the creation of a Culinary Career Lab for the 2027-28 school year. While adding space and students, we’re committed to promoting a relationship-based, small-school culture that makes all students feel welcome, accepted, and willing to participate in all that Tenor Journal Square has to offer.

Tenor prepares its students for tomorrow… today.

Sincerely,

Zachary Beeksma
