The MATC Connection

What is the MATC Connection?

During their senior year, students from Tenor High School attend Milwaukee Area Technical College to earn college credits for free. Students can earn an MATC program certificate or technical diploma, credits to be used toward an associate degree, or credits to be transferred to a four-year degree program. Throughout their transition to MATC, students are continually supported by Tenor teachers and counselors, who help students navigate the new experience and empower them to flourish. We call it “College on Training Wheels.” From assisting with course selection and helping students navigate campus resources to assisting students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to access the supports they need, Tenor staff ensure students are equipped for success at MATC.

Academic Opportunities

Tenor seniors have access to the full range of course offerings available to any MATC student. During their year at MATC, Tenor students can earn technical diplomas or certificates they can immediately put to use in the workforce, complete courses in pursuit of an associate degree, or take general education credits they can transfer to a four-year college or university. Throughout students' time at Tenor, counselors and teachers support them with career guidance and provide career exploration opportunities so they can make the most of their free year of college at MATC their senior year of high school.
